We spent 1 night in Madrid in August 2007 on our way back home from Barcelona.  We stayed at the Gran Hotel Canarias - a very nice, modern boutique hotel.  Since we were only there overnight, we didn't see much of the city - just walked around some and then had a nice dinner at Loft39.
