We spent 6 days in Barcelona in August 2007.  We stayed at the Hotel Pulitzer - a very nice, modern boutique hotel.  Our favorite foods were Catalonia bread, Paella, Churros & Chocolate and Profiteroles!  We loved the beach and the art museums: Picasso and Miro.  Olympic Harbor was our favorite 'hanging out' spot and walking all over the city was our favorite pastime.
